Nature Mandalas

On Monday and Tuesday Akomanga 16 has a task to head outside and collect some objects from their environment to make into a mandala. Unfortunately on Tuesday the weather wasn't great, so they were challenged to find objects from inside their homes as well. Have a look at the beautiful results.

Cooking at home

One of the tasks for learners in Akomanga 16 today was to write instructions for something they have baked at home.

The recipes looked delicious (other than the play dough, not sure I'd eat that!).

Learners wrote out their ingredients and instructions and then took photos of what they have made, which included vanilla cupcakes, custard, crumbed chicken, toffee apples, afghans and playdough.

Ka pai tamariki mā!

If you are unable to access seesaw, but would like to share your instructions and photos of your baking or cooking, you can email them to me at adent@hameast.school.nz

Distance Learning

 Kia ora whānau,

Just a quick hello to outline what will happen in regards to distance learning over the next wee while.

I will be uploading activities to seesaw which your learner can complete and post to their journal.

If you are unable to access seesaw or are having problems with internet or a device, I will also be adding activities to this blog for learners to do. You can then take photos and send them to me.

Other activities your learner can do:

Mathletics:Your learner should have their code, but if you need this please let me know.

Sunshine classics: A great literacy site where you learner can read and record themselves and complete follow up activities.

Spelling: Each learner has a list to practice and can test themselves using the link from this page.

The other pages on this blog also have some fun activities your learner can do at home. I will be adding to these as well.

I will be available to learners between 9am and 12pm, and will be contactable via email during normal school hours. My email is adent@hameast.school.nz

Stay safe and well and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

At the same moment around the world

This weeks book for play, make, create has been At The Same Moment Around The World. The book looks at one point in time and what different people all around the globe might be doing at the time. Learners read and talked about the book, played with the people and then completed some of the tasks. One of these tasks asked learners to think about what they would be doing at that same moment in time.

Making butter

We’re scientists in room 16 and love learning about new things. This week it was how butter is made and how materials can change state.

We filled our jars half full with cream and added a pinch of salt. Then we had turns to shake the jars, observing every minute what was happening to the cream in the jars.

Eventually we had beautiful yellow butter which we enjoyed sampling on some pikelets. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1-LJT6ZJqZR85YScGKJGtW3H4d0LZ3lnThttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1E1uIlq4eBZte6KKZyg-FJzx-4X3WMElGhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1vnbT0QgLw2mR36cp4Y4kMNDWT5BaEgPw
