Literacy

Reading

WHAT IS THE DAILY FIVE?

The Daily Five is how we run our reading block. It is a way to teach literacy
that has been developed by two sisters Gail Moser Boushey and Joan Moser.
The children are given five choices to work independently on during the block.
The teacher works with children on their goals in groups and individually.
Between each choice the children learn literacy skills from the CAFE part of Daily 5.
This is where they learn about Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency and
Extending vocabulary.

THE DAILY FIVE

We have five choices that we can choose from;
Read to self
Work on writing
Read to someone
Listen to reading
Word work
