Get NZ Writing!

We were so excited to be chosen for the Get NZ Writing box from SchoolKit and Warehouse Stationary. We filled in this fun poster together, sharing information about our class. We learnt how to write found poems and enjoyed choosing a piece of text to turn into a poem. 

We learnt about similes and metaphors too. We practised by writing some about the building of our new classrooms and some about ourselves too. We look forward to putting these into our writing more during the year too. 

Ruru hub reading

We come together each week to catch up as a hub.

Harvest Festival

Room 17 made spiced pumpkin bread and it was delicious! They shared their bread with us and we were able to have two pieces because it was so yummy. 

Our class is a hub with Room 17. We are the Ruru hub. 

Kapa Haka

Every week we have kapa haka on a Tuesday. In Totara we do not fuss about, we are connected to our story and think about our actions. We are

We are connected to another class in New Zealand for the Great Get NZ Writing project.

Our Papatuanuku Table

We have been collecting items from nature. What how our table changes during the seasons. Some students from our class sorted the items into categories.

A peaceful classroom

We worked in small groups to come up with ideas about what a 

peaceful class looks like, sounds like and feels like. 

We want our class to be a peaceful class. 

These are the things we will remember so we can be peaceful.

Pepeha

This is what we use for our pepeha. It tells us our families names and where we come from. 

We asked our families to help us and we are learning to say our pepeha.

Day One - 2018

We are standing near the bus. We sat on the bus and pretended to drive the bus! Some of us had never been on the bus before. 

We like swimming with other classes. When we went in, it was cold. We accidentally splashed our teacher, Hine.

We drafted up our class agreement. We are calling it a class treaty. 

We did some maths learning in the library.
